I was not expecting this story to become the size that it has. Back in 2011, I was studying Advanced Creative Writing and I was learning about writing for the screen. My classmates and I were an assignment to compose a 15 minute script for a short film. During the Christmas holiday, I was nursing a horrible stomach bug and headache and I only had a couple of days to finish my assignment - I managed to knuckle down (despite feeling wretched) and I submitted it before the deadline. Yay!

My screenplay was about an elderly man who'd received a text from someone called 'L' requesting they meet up. Fuelled by curiosity, he goes to the address stated in the text and is welcomed by a very familiar face of a woman, but the strange thing is, she hasn't aged since he last saw her, over forty years ago. 

 

I remember so distinctly my classmates read it and I received nothing but positivity and encouragement to continue and explore these two characters and their relationship.

In 2022, I started writing the novel version of the screenplay and in 2023 - Bittersweet Injuries was published and it has become a highly anticipated series!
